Glam Girl Motto: Quality Over Quantity

GLAM and U by Kotex asked me to share how I've kicked a vice and changed for the better... here it goes!

At the beginning of this year I decided one of my mottos was going to be quality over quantity in all aspects of my life:

New shoes? Yes, I WANT them but will I love them in 2 months? Will they last a few seasons?
Hoarding clothes from college? Do a closet cleanse and donate to charity!
Friendship not working out? Why try so hard for someone who isn't adding quality to my life?

{Two of my bestest friends - going on eight years of friendship!}

Putting effort into friendships that do fulfill me is so much more rewarding then struggling with those that always bring me down. Whether it's friends or fashion, I always keep in mind that having a million friends/ pieces of clothing doesn't necessary equate to happiness.  Obviously shoes are not friends (although they can sure pick you up when you're feeling down) but at the end of the day, if it's not adding value to your life than why invest your energy or money!

Friday Eye Candy: Carven

Happy Friday! Looking forward to the weekend and hoping to squeeze in one last beach session while the weather is still warm + a little shopping at Nordstrom Rack.

I've been in love with this Carven style for months now and still kick myself for not scooping up a coral pair I found at Decades $150 Shoe Event  earlier this year!

Carven Bow-Embellished Suede Pump for $400 @ Net-A-Porter

The bows add the perfect feminine touch to these blue suede shoes. Gorge!

Have a fab weekend!

Game Day Glam

When Nordstrom Rack challenged me to style three fab Fall looks for $500, I couldn't wait to hit the store! There are so many great Fall styles out there especially in the shoe department (my fave).

The first look of the three part series is getting Game Day Glam which couldn't be more perfect because I'm a die hard USC fan (my Alma mater) and I go all out for game day. My typical Trojan Football uniform always includes red pants! With the popularity of colored denim/pants, it's so easy to take one of your team's colors and pair it with neutrals and other accents for the perfect game day look. Add some gold arm candy and tah dah:

  {J. Brand Twill Pants - $69 // Free Hug Polka Dot Blazer - $29 // Soprano Black Tank - $14 // REPORT Boots - $59}

 For Fall, I love boots with hidden wedges because they give great height with support which is perfect for game day because you'll still look glam but be comfortable all day. Let's be honest, I jump up and down like a crazy person during games so heels won't work! Also, I love that all these pieces can stand alone to create other great outfits especially the polka dot blazer. Polka dots are huge for FallFight On!!

{in-store instasnaps}
Had a tough time deciding on the perfect blazer but polka dots won! Plus, I spotted amazing Coach OTK boots that I almost took home. Make sure to follow me on instagram for my next shopping adventure.

 Two more looks are coming your way over the next few weeks + make sure to check out nordstromrack.com to find your local Nordstrom Rack and discover on-trend brands at up to 70% off.

All in the Details: 3 Leather Must-Haves

This Fall it's all about leather and faux leather details even if it's just the trim on a shirt pocket! Here are 3 leather must-haves that will get you through the season:

the collar: There's so much to love about this Tibi leather-collared shirt! This faux leather collar top from Nordstrom is pretty fab too.

the skirt: Grab a basic leather mini or go for this fun color block ASOS leather skirt!

the blazer: I'm a huge fan of blazers with leather accents like this Elizabeth & James style. Pair it with distressed denim for a perfect casual chic combo. Try more wallet friendly options from Metropark or Nasty Gal!

Shoe Spotting: 2012 Emmy Awards

The 2012 Emmy Awards Red Carpet had its share of stunning gowns and what I can imagine, gorgeous shoes -- cheers to to the stars who gave us a peek of their gams and stunning footwear!

As usual, black was a red carpet favorite however a few ladies went with bold shoe choices:
{Heidi Klum in Charlotte Olympia // Giuliana Rancic in Jimmy Choo // Elisabeth Moss // Ginnifer Goodwin in Christian Louboutin // January Jones in Christian Louboutin}

It's very interesting that Heidi & Ginnifer went with hues that perfectly matched their dresses instead of complimentary colors. Ginnifer definitely got it right but Heidi's head-to-toe sea foam is a bit too much! What did you think of all the red carpet looks?

Pencil Me In: Styling the Pencil Skirt with Target Style

Have you noticed pencil skirts popping up everywhere? Gone are the days of pencil skirts as an office only piece - their long and lean cut is universally flattering and make for a perfect date night or weekend event look. Believe me, when I left my corporate job 3 years ago I thought I'd never see another pencil skirt... boy was I wrong.

When Target asked me to help style the pencil skirt I knew it would be a great challenge!
Pursuit Tip: Pick one of this season's hottest trends (peter pan collars, leather details, polka dots, etc.) to add life to wardrobe basics.

{1. Merona Peter Pan Collar Top // 2. Merona Belt // 3.  Merona Pencil Skirt // 4. Target Bracelets // 5. Merona Booties}

This whole look is under $110! There's something about pencil skirts that's super sexy especially when cinched at the waist with a belt! Add a fabulous peter pan collar top, your favorite army candy, and pair with wedge booties for a downtown look. I'm such a huge fan of the navy/black combo because it just looks oh-so-chic.

This is one post of a four part series so stay tuned!  Also, see how the Target Fall Collection is designed to take you through a season of stylish looks at

Transitioning to Fall with Chevron & Army Green

The LA heat is making it hard to jump head first into Fall but it proves for a good challenge. Try playing with prints and color to transition a Summer wardrobe. I wasn't kidding when I said that I've fully incorporated army green pieces into my Fall looks:

{Nordstrom Skirt // American Apparel Tee // Zara Vest // T+J Designs & J. Crew Bracelets // Mark + James by Badgley Mischka Sandals // Foley and Corinna Bag}

 Snapped up this skirt last month at Nordis and I'm obsessed! Also, can we talk about how this vest is such a great layering piece? I wore it over a feminine dress recently and it was the perfect balance of girly and cool. The Mark + James sandals are one of my faves except that they're uber delicate and I'm always afraid I'm going to hurt them - remember when I went on a mad shoe hunt for these lovelies?

Shoe Spotting: Viktor Mag

Stunning shots of gorgeous bikinis and killer shoes... yes, please!  Can't get enough of this spread from Viktor Magazine:

The Louboutin's with the pom-pom heels might be my fave! Now I'm wishing Summer will never end.

New outfit post coming tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Spot On: Polka Dots for Fall

Polka dots are hot, hot, hot and this season it's all about
black/white and navy/white combos:

Looking forward to mixing and matching other prints with this Fall's nautical polka dots. I've been loving polka dots for awhile now, remember this post from 2011? I see a pair of polka dot flats in my future!

Friday Eye Candy: Valentino

Happy Friday! Headed to San Diego this weekend to hopefully get some beach time and last minute Summer sun.

Valentino has stolen my heart lately:

Valentino Buckle Stiletto Pump for $790 @ Farfetch

I love the simplicity of this pump! Hmm... why do I not own a pair of Valentinos?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Falling Into Fall: Peplum & Leather Details

In never fails, when Fall rolls around I become obsessed with army green pieces. I've literally been wearing them all week! Has anyone been to Zara recently? Although I want the ENTIRE store I was good and only snagged these two pieces in NY:

It's all about leather details and peplums right now! You'll remember I was questioning peplums recently and I've decided the skirt peplum is the way to go for my petite shape. I love the way the cotton tee adds a casual feel to this look. My L.A.M.B. booties are from years ago but remain one of my favorites and comfiest! What trends are you excited about for Fall?

Tommy Ton's NYFW Shoe Snaps

Although I was at the tents for a little bit last week, it was pouring rain and I didn't get a chance to snap any amazing shoe pics. Thank goodness Tommy Ton always catches the very best:

 There are no words for the rainbow Charlotte Olympia's!

Stay tuned... outfit post coming later today.

#AmexFashion + US Open

Last Saturday and Sunday I had the amazing opportunity to hang out with American Express and experience all of the incredible perks they have for card members! Saturday I went to Lincoln Center to sit in their Skybox to watch a few fashion shows and Sunday I went to the US Open. Talk about uber exciting!

{American Express Skybox at NYFW}

{Skybox view & live #AmexFashion instagram feed}

The Skybox was catered by the amazing Todd English and we definitely took full advantage. Champagne, yummy food and the perfect view of Monique Lhuillier?! Yes, please!

One of the great things about the Skybox is the intimate Q&A's Amex set up throughout the week. While I was there Mimi Lombardo, Fashion Director at Travel + Leisure, gave her tips on fashionably packing and how travel inspires fashion.

{Outside the NYFW tents}

{Card members were invited to get their swing analyzed by a tennis professional!}

{Hallie, Victoria, and I watching the Women's Finals!}

{The weather couldn't have been more perfect!}

{Serena William jumping for joy after winning the US Open}

{Congrats, Serena!}

It was definitely a weekend of firsts! I couldn't have imagined a better way to experience my first  NYFW & US Open than with American Express. They know how to do it right! Can I go back to NY now?
