Julep Maven: Complimentary Colors

It's been said that my roomie and I have a little bit of a nail polish obsession. We typically take time out every other week to sit and create fun nail designs with each other. Now that's what I call true BFFs! When Julep sent over these two complimentary colors I wasn't positive how to use them together, but then I decided to go simple mani with a triangle twist! The oxblood and a dark green remind me of wine tasting (apparently I'm in weekend mode already).

{Julep 'Lucy' // Julep ' Diane'}

To get the triangle shape just cut out a piece of tape, stick it to your nail and paint over it. You have to be patient and let it dry forever but it's pretty effective! If you're not a Julep Maven and have a nail polish addiction like myself, I highly suggest you check it out. New colors every month and the polish is TOP NOTCH. My mani is still going strong after a week!

6 Ways to Wear...

One of my New Year's resolutions is to stay on a style budget and the best way to do that is shop the closet! Every month I'll be focusing on a piece or two to showcase the different ways you can style them. It's all about cost per wear, right?

 In case you missed it, this month I've really put chambray shirts and camo pants in heavy rotation:

Neutral palettes can really carry any outfit and that's exactly what I embraced when styling each of these pieces. I actually can't wait until Spring hits to bring a little more color into my wardrobe!

Shoe Lust: Gianvito Rossi

When I found these gorgeous Gianvito Rossi OTK boots at Decades last year, I instantly came home and started researching the designer. Gianvito is the son of Sergio Rossi and just like his father, makes incredible shoes! His collections have been a fan favorite since the first one launched in 2006. You may remember this pair from earlier this month! Needless to say I'm a lusting over them...

{ankle boots // ankle strap pump // pointed toe pump // peep toe sandal // leather sandal}

His styles are designed to really showcase the sexiness of the foot (my fave) and the Spring color palette is just yummy!

Leather x Lace

Springtime temps call for cutoffs and booties...

{ zara lace top - similar here & here // diy 7 for all mankind cut-offs - similar here & here  // zara combination jacket // vince camuto booties (on sale!) // rebecca minkoff mini mac

I spotted this Zara jacket last month, didn't buy it and, of course, couldn't stop thinking about all the ways I wanted to wear it. Thankfully it was still there when I returned last weekend! I'm totally going through a leather phase at the moment.  There's something about mixing leather details with girly pieces (like this look) that I'm really drawn to. A little feminine touch never hurts!

Have an old pair of jeans with an outdated silhouette but love they way they fit your booty? Turn 'em into cut-offs! Next time I make a pair, I'll make sure to share my how-to but it's really pretty simple... a ruler, pen and scissors do the trick + after a few washes they look perfectly worn.

Look for a few more ways to style a lace shirt coming in February! One of my new year's resolutions is to shop my closet more and stay on a style budget.

Sneak Peek: Monique Lhuillier's Been Coveteur'd

One of my fave designers has been coveteur'd and I have some exclusive pics to share! I wouldn't expect anything less from Monique Lhuillier's shoe closet:

{photos: The Coveteur}

I'm lusting over the array of shoes in her closet! Looks like she may take a liking to a certain Manolo Blahnik style (3rd row). You know what they say? If the shoe fits, buy it in every color. Can we also talk about HER shoe line? The second photo showcases two styles from the collection. They're gorgeous and oh so feminine (obvi); a natural extension of her dresses.

Make sure to check out all the inside scoop on The Coveteur tomorrow!

Leather Shoulders + Jimmy Choo

Snapped up this leather detailed tee on a recent Zara trip and it's definitely making the wardrobe rotation. Paired it with some distressed denim and added a little feminine touch with sparkly Jimmy Choo heels...

{zara t-shirt  - similar sweatshirt version from trouve // gap distressed denim (on sale!) // jimmy choo 'leila' heels // bauble bar spike necklace // f21 chain necklace}

There's something about distressed denim and fancy heels that gets me every time. I love a little necklace layering action too, don't you?

In Pursuit of the Perfect Nude Flats

We all know a good pair of nude flats can go a long way and mine have gone pretty far, six years to be exact! The pursuit of new nude flats has officially started...

Almond toe and pointed toe and metal details, oh my!  I'm tempted to go the J. Crew route since they proved to be durable the last time around, but who knows which pair will end up in my closet. Do you have a go-to pair of nude flats? Do tell!

Ohh... check out the guest photo shoot I did with the lovely Penny Chic!

Skirting the Issue

Every once in awhile take that chambray shirt and dress her up...

{f21 chambray shirt // INC bandage skirt - similar here // gap belt - similar here // mnologie perspex clutch c/o // madewell bow ring // gorjana initial ring // f21 chain necklace // nordstrom bow bracelet // t + j designs chain bracelet // victoria's secret heels}

This is one of my fave chambray looks... feels very Jenna Lyons. At the end of the day, a chambray shirt acts exactly like any pair blue denim: dress it up or down!

{Sale Alert} Charlotte Olympia on The Outnet

Hide your wallets because one of my favorite shoe designers just hit theOutnet! It's no secret that I've been coveting a pair of Charlotte Olympia's for awhile now; her designs are so feminine and just magical. A handful of styles just went on sale on The Outnet (we're talking 45-60% off) and I am trying so hard to be a good girl and not buy a pair. Let's just drool a little bit...

Camo x Louboutin

Another camo pant look by yours truly! I'm super excited to share my most recent shoe purchase: Christian Louboutin booties that I snagged at Barney's amazing shoe sale...

{zara camo pants - available in alternate color // zara coat - similar style here ( black on sale in stores!) // rachel rachel roy metallic top (on sale!) // gap sunnies // christian louboutin 'dugueclina' booties - available in red suede}

I had no intention of a big shoe purchase in January but I was brunching at Barney's in Beverly Hills and just happened upon an incredible Fall/Winter shoe sale... they literally screamed my name and of course, fit perfectly. It was one of those Confessions of a Shopaholic moments. I justified the purchase with two reasons: 1) they were on super sale 2) classic black booties never go out of style!

Also, can we talk about this Zara coat? When I bought it a couple months ago I was kind of iffy about it, but now you can't tear it off me! I'm a huge fan of gold hardware and this baby has just the right amount.

Have I convinced you to rock camo pants yet?

Inside My Clutch

Unlike shoes, I'm not the biggest fan of switching up my purses on a daily basis because usually it requires re-organizing and in the case of clutches, downsizing my on the go must-haves. Then I met Gap's two-tone leather clutch and she changed my mind - no need to downsize the contents of your wallet + she doubles as an ipad pouch:

{kate spade wallet // gap sunnies // topshop pouch}

I obviously have a thing or two for lip balms and apparently the color pink! How often do you switch up your purses?

All Black Everything, Kind Of...

All black everything is a full proof look but you can always spice it up with a pop of color:

{lush 'perfect' top // j brand wax coated denim // t + j designs chain bracelet // nordstrom spike bracelet  // bp bow bracelet - similar here // gorjana alphabet ring // madewell bow ring // gap two-tone leather clutch // victoria's secret heels}

I am BEYOND in love with this clutch because it fits the world (stay tuned for a look inside my clutch) and can even double as an ipad pouch. Not to mention, it's just soft as can be and incorporates two of my fave colors. It's one of my new year's resolutions to shop my closet more and this is one simple way to make it happen. Think of the endless ways you can wear all black and add different pairs of colorful shoes or clutches that you already own?!

New Year, New You: Get Fit in Style

If you're like me, you probably made some type of resolution to eat better, workout more, yada yada yada...

I'm not one for diets or strict workout regimens, but I do always strive to be fit & toned and one way of making it happen is great fitness gear!  Let's be honest, you definitely feel better about working out when you look good. I'm no fitness or nutrition expert but many of you have inquired about my workout/diet so I though I'd share a little bit!

Here are some of my workout tips and fun fitness wear ideas to keep you fashionably fit:

{strength training}
If I go to the gym and don't take a body works class, I typically only do 10 minutes on the eliptical to get my heart rate going and spend the remaining 40-50 minutes using weights and focusing on abs, arms and booty. It's important to not only be toned but strong!

{figure out what you like and do it!}
I'm a dancer at heart and no matter how tired I am, I can always manage to talk myself into a hip hop class because I truly love it. When you find that one thing that doesn't feel like working out... jump on it!

{workout with a buddy}
Everything is better with friends and the gym is no different. It makes the time go by faster when you have a girlfriend to chat with + you can also push each other to try new things! If you see me at the gym, 99% of the time I'll be with my bff.

{go outside}
No matter where you live there are always plenty of outdoor activities to partake in. Take advantage of your surroundings and enjoy some time outside! I feel like I get a 10x better workout hiking or playing paddle ball on the beach than I do at the gym.

Overall, I try to do some type of physical activity at least 3 times a week and I eat and drink everything in moderation. It's all about switching it up so you don't get bored and you can keep "shocking" your muscles with new and exciting things. If you're looking to cut calories or shed the lbs. audit your alcohol consumption. I can tell you first hand that cutting out a glass of wine with dinner or second cocktail on Saturday night can really make a huge difference. How do I know this? Recently, I've been really busy and haven't been drinking as much and I've definitely lost some weight that I'm now trying to put back on. Bring on the bottles of wine, please!!

{adidas sports bra // adidas sports bra (on sales!) // nike sports bra // hue sport socks // neon hair ties // nike free run +3 (multiple colors)}

Find workout gear that fits well and incorporates color! I promise you'll feel a million times better wearing neon socks with your well fitted black workout pants than with grey sweats and white socks. Maybe it's not in the budget to scoop up a new pair of colorful sneakers (btw, I'm obsessed with my Nike Free Run +3 - wearing them here) so opt for a new sports bra or fun hair ties. You'll be surprised how even the littlest pops of color can make a difference.

Cheers to getting fit in style!

The Shoes: Prabal Gurung for Target Collection

Mark your calendars for February 10th because that's the day you can shop Prabal Gurung's Target Collection and believe me, you'll actually WANT TO. The collection boasts tons of bold colors and prints all the way down to the shoes:

Drooling over the first and last pairs of heels... look at those ankle straps! All of the shoes are gorge and definitely look very high-end. Don't worry about breaking the bank with these babies because the flats retail for $29 and the heels for $39 - now that's what I like to hear! Definitely going to try to scoop up a pair of heels and the flat sandals. Which ones are you coveting?

Camo + Chambray Crushin'

And the camo + chambray obsessions continue, this time together..
{zara camo pants (on sale!) // f21 chambray shirt // foley + corinna bag // j. crew flats - similar here // t + j designs bow and chain bracelets}

One word: simple.  These J. Crew nude flats have seen better days but they're also six years old! If you're in the market for a new pair of flats, I'm the biggest J. Crew fan. Most of their styles are super comfy and last forever - I can vouch. Stay tuned for the pursuit of the perfect nude flats...

Red Suede Shoes

Sometimes all you need is a pop of color:

This season I'm all about booties and these lovelies add just the right "umph" to any casual look. Talk about casual AND comfy, this polka dot sweater is one of those pieces I want to throw on every morning - the fit is super flattering and it's so soft!

Psst... I picked up an AMAZING pair of shoes over the weekend. EEK!
