Travel Diary: San Francisco Part 2

 The following came out of my mouth multiple times over the weekend: "this time last week we were biking through Golden Gate Park... eating the best chocolate chip cookie ever... exploring the city in a mustang convertible". It's safe to say I'm still coming down from my SF high. The video I shared on Friday gives a 2 minute snapshot into our 60 hours in SF; if you're planning a weekend adventure it is possibly to hit all the touristy places + more! Here are a few of my faves spots:

{day 1}
Before anything grab a coffee at Blue Bottle Coffee. Not only does it look pretty, it's also packs a punch that will give you energizer bunny energy to last all day!

Most of SF can be explored on bike, foot or public transit. On day 1 we opted for bikes! We stumbled upon bike rentals at Golden Gate Park (did you know it's bigger than Central park?!) and decided to rent two singles. I almost  threw a tantrum for the tandem and didn't get my way. After exploring, I think singles are the way to go to maneuver up inclines and around cars. Shh... don't tell my BF he was right.
If you want an adventure, ride west through Golden Gate Park to Sutro Baths. Like I mentioned, GG park is huge, and there are TONS of things to see from waterfalls and tulip gardens to bison (yes, real bison) and paddle boats. Once you hit the beach it's absolutely stunning! I pretty much live at the beach in LA and still find new beaches to be totally breathtaking.
Sutro Baths is the ruins of an old public swimming house. I've been to SF many times before and never even heard about this place, yet every person I talked to before the trip mentioned it was a must-see. It did not disappoint! After the 7 mile roundtrip ride we were exhausted and treated ourselves to some ice cream in the park.

{day 2}

While many native San Franciscans agree that the city can be explored on bike, foot or public transit, my boyfriend was adamant that we needed a car for day 2. Again, something I wasn't for initially but ... you know how the story goes. We picked up our black mustang convertible and headed straight for the Golden Gate Bridge. Top down, heat blasting is the only way to do it in SF; the weather is as moody as teenage girl!
We headed to Muir beach and took the route through Sausalito. It's like a different world over there! On our way back we stopped off at the Palace of Fine Arts, had lunch at Fisherman's Wharf, then went to Coit Tower. Somewhere in between that we also went down Lombard Street. Yes, Car FTW.
A trip anywhere wouldn't be complete without finding the best chocolate chip cookie in town. To top off our busy Sunday, we headed to the Mission to search for Anthony's Cookies; the highest rated cookie spot on yelp. There are no words for the yumminess that ensued.
If you're a cookie lover do not leave SF without sampling some of Anthony's finest!

My favorite weekend trip tip: if you can swing it, stay through Sunday night so you can enjoy the entire day and don't get hit with the Sunday night blues before you even get back home. It makes a world of difference!

  3. I loved your Travel Diary & Video Ash! Too cute! And that song was so sweet! SF truly is a magical city. I haven't even been to half of the touristy spots, but this definitely gives me a list of places to check out on my next visit. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't even tried Anthony's cookies. Ashamed because I'm the definition of a cookie monster lol. Sausalito is my favorite! Such a charming town. P.S. You have the cutest smile!
